Brazing Pastes

Product Uses and Applications

Brazing paste is an advanced form of brazing filler material which offers some key advantages for automated and semi automated processes:

  • Automated dispensing of paste controls the amount of alloy used
  • Brazing paste enables brazing processes to be automated
  • Multiple braze rings or preforms can be replaced with one paste
  • Levels of flux can be controlled to optimise the joint quality
  • Reduced handling of brazing consumables by operators

The charts below show standard alloys supplied as paste however it is possible to supply oher alloys not listed here. VBC Group are able to specify the correct grade for a particular application and assist with product testing.

Meta-Braze 145 Braze Paste

Meta-Braze 145 Brazing Paste can be used for a number of applications including brazing of PCD and electrical contacts. Silver brazing alloys with 45% silver provide a good compromise between the free-flowing and lower melting range products with silver 55% and 56% alloys and those with more intermediate melting and flow properties such as those containing 40% or 38% silver.

Meta-Braze 049 Braze Paste

Meta-braze 049 Brazing Paste combines Meta-braze 049 brazing alloy with a boron modified flux binder system for improved wetting on tungsten carbide.A typical application for this product would be brazing of tungsten carbide to steel in small carbide tips for tools. When making brazing paste Meta-braze 049 is preferred to Meta-braze 449 as the latter is difficult to incorporate into a paste product. For ease of use however Meta-braze 450 provides the best solution.
