Special boron modified (BM) silver brazing fluxes are recommended for grades of tungsten carbide which prove difficult to wet. These fluxes have a brown (or in some cases grey) colour arising from the addition of elemental boron to the flux.
General purpose silver brazing fluxes which are white are sometimes preferred where alloy wetting isn’t an issue. This is because white fluxes tend to go clear as they approach brazing temperature allowing the joint line to be seen by the operator.
